Loving Fall!

I love the fall! Not just because of the brilliant fall colors and not just because I was born in the fall. I love it because there is something warm and cozy going on right here in my own home. First, there are lots of leaves laying on the ground in my yard and not just on the trees. This year I decided to let them lie undisturbed. I know it will be a mess next spring, but the way Steve and I have it worked out, not my problem. It's a beautiful sight. Everywhere I look, up and down, there is a magnificent palette of fall colors. The mountains are glowing! Let them lie!

Then there is football! Go Cougars... then the Utes! Football seems to pull family together for a few hours each Saturday. We don't watch football on Sunday, but when Steve comes up missing for an hour or so on those fall Sundays, I know where he is! He's just checking the scores. I have come to love hearing him say that. It makes me laugh and count my blessings that I am married to a "real" man.

Fall brings caramels, warm soups, apple pies, apple ciders, pumpkins and donuts. Fall comfort foods...ask Ina.

Then comes Halloween. The memories of Halloweens past are welcome inside again and I smile looking at all those costumes I made for my little kids so long ago and remember how adorable they were as bunnies, witches and fathoms. Dallin is going to the halloween dance tonight with a darling girl dressed in foreigner's attire. Pictures to follow. Cousin Lorna makes the most handsome Warren Jeffs! Kinda kinky, but hilarious! Yes, pictures to follow! I get out my ugly old lady mask and scare the kids at the door. I am calming down on that a bit in my old age but I still get a kick out of it. Please, I don't really care where the idea of halloween came from. I just love it!

Utah's fabulous Fall brings the last few days of warm mixed with cool temperatures. There is that occasional rainfall and cloudy skies that are waiting on that first snow fall which always comes a few days before Halloween. You can count on it every year.

And of course there is "To Kill a Mockingbird". My favorite movie and book for the fall! Go Boo!

One wish. Fall please stay just a little longer this year. It seems that I just start noticing you and the next day you have gone bye- bye!
