We are moving again. This time to Herriman. Most people do not know where Herriman is located. It is exactly across the valley to the west of Draper and on the other side of Riverton. Does that help? My ancestors on my mother's side are actually the settlers of Herriman and are buried in the Herriman cemetary. I will check that out and get back to you.
The last few weeks, Lorna and Lauren has been my sidekicks and we have painted many of the rooms in the new house a beautiful "oatmeal" color. My age is getting to me and Lauren and Blake are going to take over this task for me.
Over the weekend we had the majority of our children come to our rescue and help us load up the trailer with all our storage boxes. Believe it or not, I had already gotten rid of more than one half of the stuff but it still seemed like a grundle of unnecessary "STUFF"! Why are we keeping it... I need therapy!
The afternoon shift, which consisted of Gary B., Kade, Jess, Blake and Lauren, myself and Steve worked on the "food storage room". You never know how ready you are until you have to move it! Jess and Lauren boxed those single items with back breaking effort and Kade taped the boxes and then scooted it over to Gary, who labeled those boxes as "meth supplies, toxic waste, etc." Gotta love it! Gary, thank goodness can always be counted on for comic relief! Blake then carried all that dangerous cargo into the emptied out storage room and put them on the shelves for the movers. 87 Boxes of food items that were not in boxes and another 87 that were!
Dallin has now decided that instead of paying the movers, he is going to move those boxes over himself and even unload them in the new storage room for a lesser fee. We will see!
All in all, this was a very ugly task. Bryce declared that he was impressed that his parents were living the letter of the law and had at least one of everything we needed for survival or more! Scott, "bless his pointed little head", came right from working all night at the hospital and carried heavy boxes for hours. Paige did the grocery shopping and made pizzas for the crew and we celebrated Steve's 64th birthday on that exhausting afternoon.
Even Elle and Emma were big helpers!
This move will be my 29th move in my life. One should not be so lucky! With the good Lord willing...number 30 will be when I leave to meet my maker. I do not regret all these moves for with them I have taken with me lasting memories and friendships and experiences that I will cherish forever.
We do love our new home and are looking forward to meeting new friends and being of service to our new ward and the town of Herriman in some way. The home is big enough for visitors and we invite you to come visit us anytime.
